Would a Cannoli, by any other name…(Panorama Musicale)
Panorama Musicale 53 Butler Street, Trenton (609) 392-2979

Right after college, in the mid-70s, I moved to Greenwich Village. There I was introduced to the cannoli at Bruno’s Bakery on Bleecker Street.
I’ve never had another as good, until today, when I tried Panorama Musicale’s.

A proper cannoli is made to order, with the shells stored separately, and the filling added just before eating. Otherwise, the shells turn soggy. The ricotta filing should be smooth and creamy, but not overly rich, with a strong tang of real vanilla, and maybe a hint of almond essence.
Panorma Musicale is one of those stores that is barely hanging on in a Chambersburg that is no longer Italian. But for now, enjoy!
With thanks to David Henderson and Judy Winkler who independently suggested this review.
Two word, Italaian Ice!! She makes about 10 different flavors, I highly reccomend the chocolate.
If memory serves me right they make great biscotti as well!
this place is a trip! the inside of the store is really random and seriously italian…lots of pictures and statues of jesus and various saints, italian language programming on the tv, and a few prominently placed italian flags. its the kind of experience that won’t be available much longer in the ‘burg. so get your cannolis while you can, because they are amazing. my husband, who doesnt even like cannolis because they’re usually soggy, raved about these.
