Seafood Italiano (John Henry's)
John Henry’s Seafood Restaurant 2 Mifflin Street, Trenton
(Directions)
John Henry’s is another of the Italian eateries in the ‘Burg that survives. Uniquely, it specializes in seafood, and does an outstanding job. Quality is high, service is competent, and portions are huge.
Note: the Henry family recently sold the restaurant. We wish the new owners well, and hope they maintain the quality of the establishment. I was lucky enough to be taken out to John Henry’s in late September, 2009, the first week of the new ownership, and the food was outstanding, perhaps even better than before, so I’m hopeful.
For the non seafood eaters, there’s a small selection of grilled steaks, chops, and chicken. The “wet aged” steaks are actually among the best you can find anywhere in Trenton.
My Princeton friends, who like to order the expensive wines on the wine list, point out that the prices are extremely reasonable. A 2001 Barolo for $58 may not seem like a bargain…but the exact same bottle retail is over $50.
