FranciscoFranciso has been making pizza and tomato pie at this location since 1997, “This place used to be owned by Italians, and they taught me to make tomato pie. I love tomato pie!” Ownership has changed hands a few times over the years, but Francisco (whose plaster cast of the Virgin de Guadalup reveals his Mexican heritage) is still making excellent tomato pies there.

Francisco’s crust is superb… crispy and flavorful without being dry. It stands up well to just about any topping (though fresh mushrooms may leave your pie a little soft in the center). Without prompting, Franciso makes a pie that’s heavy on the fresh garlic and very light on cheese. He also sprinkles on fresh basil. On my second pie, I ordered “light garlic” and “a little extra cheese”, and the result was nearly perfect. In our tomato pie contest of a couple of years ago, 7 Brothers would certainly have competed closely for the best pie within City limits, and would have challenged for the overall crown as a Finalist. Prices are extremely reasonable.
Whole Pie
Located just a few doors down from Pat’s Diner on S Broad, 7 Brothers Pizza is easy to get to. I’ve not tried any of the other food, but they offer an extensive, classic pizzeria menu with sandwiches, wings, and pastas. Thanks to Anne LaBate for letting me know about this place.
