If your world oscillates between Trenton and Princeton, Fedora Cafe is a great place to meet half-way.  Located on Main St (206), across from the Lawrenceville School, Fedora delivers reliably good breakfasts, lunches, and dinners (its “hat trick”) at prices that will seem like a bargain once you experience its quality.

Check out, for example, the “Grilled Chicken Breast with Seasonal Greens, Tomatoes, Grilled Vegetables, and Corn Salsa” salad in the header image.  Delicious, ample, and a bargain at only $7.99 (July 2016 prices).  For lunch, you can add a cup of soup and a soft drink, and still get out for under $15.  Dinners aren’t much more: most entrees are in the $10-15 range.

The menu isn’t extensive, but the food is all freshly prepared, and often locally sourced.  Soups, salads, sandwiches, and panini, plus a bunch of daily specials.  Superb home-baked goods as well.  There are always several items that will appeal to vegetarians and vegans.  The dinner menu adds burgers and more hot sandwiches, plus a few entrees (e.g. roast chicken or salmon) plus personal pizza’s.

Fedora uses a self-service model (at least for lunch).  You order at the counter and generally pick it up at the counter (though if it’s going to be a while, they’ll bring it to your table).  The place is very busy, especially at lunch time.  Pictured here is a Wednesday lunch crowd in July (when the Lawrenceville School is out of session).  Seating is generally comfortable, and there are quite a few seats lining the windows, which means you can almost always find a place to sit, even when it’s crowded.

I confess I’ve eaten here only for lunch, but the cafe opens up 8 AM every day (except Monday’s, when it’s closed).  I’m told the breakfasts are great, and that it does a wonderful weekend brunch business.  I’ll try to check it out and expand the review when I do.
