  1. If I took your word for it and visited some other tomato pie joint you rated higher than DeLo’s Sloan or Robbinsville, I am reasonably sure I’d be annoyed that I made a trek from Toms River for the best pie in the area of my home town Trenton and was completely disappointed. DeLorenzo’s is simply the very finest tomato pie in Mercer County. That’s no accident. It’s the finest tomato pie made with the finest ingredients, and Rick and his wonderful staff on Sloan Avenue are second to none! They can open up in Ocean County anytime they want and save me from the charlatan pizzerias here now.

    1. Gary.. a couple of points. Point 1: DeLo’s in Robbinsville and on Sloan Avenue are owned by different branches of the family (uncle and nephew I believe) and DO NOT bake the same pie. The staff on Sloan may be nice, but the pie there is only fair imo. Robbinsville wasn’t part of the contest, and would probably have won it outright had it been located close enough to Trenton under the rules we set. Point 2: In all of these shops there is the potential for huge quality variations from visit to visit. If the person who made my pie in 2015 is no longer working at the shop, or has the night off, all bets are off as to the quality of the pie. If you were disappointed by the quality of a pie, let me know specifically which shop and I’ll try to get back there to update the review.

  2. I always went to DELORENZO’S on Hudson st ever since I was old enough to eat pizza. I am still eating DELORENZO’s pizza.
THE only thing that has changed was the location. GOOD JOB
    TASTY —–TASTY

  3. i was a big fan of Delorenzos on Hudson. I have been many times to the new Ribbinsville location, but find the crusts there too dry & almost like cardboard! Lately I have become more a fan of the Delorenzos on Sloan. They use Trenton’s water, which some say is the secret to Trenton tomato pies.

    1. Yup–we’ve been there as part of our “Tomato Pie Competition.” Stay tuned for how it ranks!! (Of course, DeLorenzo’s of Robbinsville isn’t in the running, as it is too far from Trenton).

  4. I agree DeLorenzo’s on Sloan Ave. was very disappointing. The crust was too thick and dry. Won’t go there again. Years ago I had the Hudson Street pie which was excellent. I don’t think the Robbinsville location pie has the same quality. Tried it as a take out and was not impressed. My favorite now is Joey’s in Hamilton. Brooklyn pie is thin crust – great sauce and very tasty.
