After being flooded out of New Hope in 2006, Eric Maywar reopened his used and rare book shop in the heart of the revitalizing South Warren district. It became a neighborhood mainstay in its original location on South Warren, and in 2012 moved to a larger location around the corner at 4 West Lafayette. It’s a great place to find a good book cheap, as well as to meet some of the most interesting people in Trenton.
Don’t be surprised if you find a poetry reading or discussion group happening when you show up. Feel free to pull up a chair and browse.
Need to re-cycle some books? Donate them to Classics and earn a generous store credit.

I’d love to have a used bookstore like this in Lawrence! The one business that would really round out main street.

I Love This Book Store! What Would Trenton Do Without It!
Just to brag, we recently won Business of the Year from the Trenton Council of Civic Associations for our community work and the Allies of Humanity award from BOOST for the same.
A destination bookstore. Great selection, neatly arranged, lovely atmosphere. Easy parking, too.
Eric has been great letting us come into the store and share our poetry and music once a month! We love the store and the audience we get are great…they also have wall to wall selections of books to buy and read!

Classics is a great community asset and also a good business model. It is an example of a destination business that draws people based on the quality of its offerings.
When the history of great bookstores is written Classics will be rated with City Lights. It is the center of a network of culture and community that has a world class perspective; it has generated a renaissance on Warren Street, Trenton, a place where activists meet with romantics and literati and yet coexist.
Classics is a favorite place for me and my family. Whether I am looking for a book club book, a kids’ book, or an interesting gift, I can be certain to leave Classics fulfilling a mission. Of course, as other posters have mentioned, it’s a congenial place to hang out, meet new people, and have fascinating and positive interactions with members of our great community. Check out Classics and you won’t be disappointed… in fact, you’ll likely be very pleasantly surprised!

Classics is the kind of bookshop that I’ve always dreamed of. It has lots of interesting books from any genre. It is also a meeting place to find smart and interesting people with ideas to share. You should stop by; it’s much better than watching TV at home.
Classics is a hub for writers, poets, game players, community activists, everyone who reads and thinks. Walk in for a warm reception.

Going to Classics is always like going home. Lots of familiar friendly faces, interesting conversation, great literature and fun & games!
Eric’s shop is definitely our favorite of the downtown shopping district. He provides wonderful service and he’s one of those people that you can’t help but love! Scrabble at Classics on friday nights has been our favorite social activity since we started playing last year. It’s truly a one in a million kind of place!!
Classics is one of Trenton’s prime assets. No city can be said to be civilized without bookstores and Classics is one of the best. Highly knowledgeable staff, well organized stock and fair prices. Also – a real center of the commnuity with interesting stuff always going on. Even when events aren’t schedualed, there is usually good conversation in progress.
